Prison Ministry Outreach:
Our first objective: We are developing a companion prison ministry relationship with the Diocese of Peru. Our incarcerated brothers and sisters are in need of hearing the Gospel and knowing others are concerned and praying for and with them. In Peru the inmates must sleep on the floor of their cells unless someone donates a palet for them. To date we have raised $200.00 to purchase 200 Palets for the inmates to sleep on.
Our second objective: Currently, the inmates in a number of correctional facilities have started a campaign to begin to meet the first of the eight millinium goals; to irridicate extreme proverty and hunger; the inmates program is called Putting in your two cents worth. Here is how it works:
Asks each individual to place two cents for each meal into the fund/ hope chest. The inmates are praying that 1000 individuals or families will join them in this project. More information on how to become involved please contact The Rev. Sandy Tull at mothersandytull@yahoo.com. There is information for individuals, families and communities to become part of this project.
To Date the inmates have purchased a flock of chickens through ERD; Four (4) shares of fish to stock a lake were purchased through ERD and Two (2) sets of honeybees were purchased through The Hefifer Project. To date $810= 40,500 meals in which grace was said and prayer for those in hunger was offered.
Our third objective: Over 2,000 boxes of Christmas cards have been collected and delivered to correctional facilities across north FL. We thank those congregations and individuals that made this possible.
Our fourth Objective: We have raised funds to support the "Prison Book Project" that supplies christian based books to prisons through out Florida. We have also donated worship pamphlets, reference books, prayer books and bibles to the prisons where we have a presence.
